My last few days on Sondela

It's been great, getting to learn what I have learned of everyone on the farm. From the lowest person working here to the big bosses of the farm and also to someone you will think that you can learn anythig from them. It's been great but it has come to that time that i have to leave and go out there to the big place and found myself. I will never forget this place and its people. Goodbye for now Sondela till we meet again

Road blocking and checking off poachers

What a day it was, learning about how to do road block. Knowing what you must do when doing things like that. The mane reason of doing road block and what you will do when the person sees that he or she is going to be arristed for doing the wrong. When they run away. In what possitions should you as the head range do in that kind of succucation. And if that person do not run away what you must say when they get to you. Explain why you have this road block and ask them if they cuold open the back of the car for you amd tell them that it's a proccess that you must do as range. After doing all that think them for there help and co operration. If you get to deal if one of those that are staben and don't whan to work with you, just be passent and just be friendly with them. Even if they say things that you will not like,just be friendly and don't react to thier attiduted.

Anti-poaching day

The day when Oom Diedrik come to tell us that we will be doing an anti-poaching course I thought oh no,what a long day it's going to be in the sun the whole morning and after lunch. When we got at the site where we were going to do the activites of anti-poaching. Oom Diedrik showed us all the different types of ways a person can stop poaching in the area or place they stey in.But it was fun and I have learned a lot of that.Some of the things we can use in the fucture not just in anti-poaching time just in general

LIMPOPO TOUR

In just a couple of day we will be going on a trip or tour of a live time.Not all of us are going just of some reasons.I believe that it's going to be a time that a person will nerver ever forget. Everyone is coming will, but those that are doing Nature consrevation andtourism guiding. Just imagine touring Limpopo in just four and a half days, camping, visiting all places that you have just dreamed about seeing. I just can't wait for this week to end. No work for that week that we are going on thae trip. Will tell you more after being on the trip self.But just picture it ,even if I hate camping I think I'm going to enjoy this trip

Our township tour

This weekend we were taken on a township tour, which was a great experience for someone like me. To be amongst great people and their place in which they live in. The centre in which the children come there after school for a descant meal and for someone to come and help them with their homework. Someone that loves you like his or her own child. The centre is a family, that was first run by a lady that those days. Today it’s run by the daughter and some of her grin-children. One of the children was ones a police women by was not happy with her work, things happen by nothing would change the feels. The other lady also ones worked so a social worker, helping homeless people and people that have problems with child, but she did not love her job. It felt like it was a culling. It was no long what she always what she wanted to do. She used to volunteer on weekends. The we went were the children did their cultural dance they did so beautifully, I have never seen such things in my live just in the old place were my mother used to live when she was my age. Things of culture are now gone, so t see that was an unforgettable moment. Something to always be triggered in a person’s life. The first houses that were first build and the first street to just say. WHAT A TIME IT WAS JUST TO BE AT SUCH A PLACE, WERE EVERYONE KNOWNS EACH OTHER

My trip to Marakele National Park

It was a trip that a person should not forget, not only that I enjoy myself, but I also learn something more about Limpopo and the park it's self. Not just that it was a one time experance of a person to be at a place full of history, not just historic but cultural.On the way to there we had to do some touring on Limpopo and also on some of the smoller place you could find in the place. Things that a person could have never had the chance of see happened. Things that if I wasn't studying here could have not have been of see happened.Ok when we got there , finaly we meetwith a Lady by the name Surah who give us a short briefing on the place and why they just have the history of the place from 1985 and not before that. We had the tour of the place on our own without a guide with us, did see any big 5 or should I say big 4 because they just have the big 4 of the big 5. Saw some birds that you'll not find here at Sondela. They say that this they anly get them there because they like that type of environment

1st days in the Natureconrervation side

This course has great things to learn from. Not just about the trees and birds and also as a torist guide or game range you need to how to take are of your environment and also nature for our birds and also theanimals or should I say game that we have around.In this consrevation course you also gat to learn how to fight fire and what should you take in acount what fighting fire

Last days doing the provical course

Today is my second last day doing this course with Heidi. She has been great to us, not just as a faciletater but as a mother to all of us.Today I'm just going to update my 3 day Itinery which is part of segment 12 and also segment 2.This segment has given me some experance that I can one of this day use it. Provincal guiding has showed me that the world has 11 languages and in that 11 languages there are different cultures and different believes.It has also learned me about my family history, where they come from. Because I know where I'm going at this moment.I have also learned why South Africa is called a "Rainbow Nation". Being in South Africa means that you have to be an African.

South Africa's Demographics

South Africa is a Rainbow Nation accounding Archbishop Desmond Tutu ,just after the first democratic election in 1994.The time when i choose to do this subject ,I did know that I wuold learn as much. Learning about our population of South Africa , the nationalityand also the populations in each province of South Africa. Doing the showed me what South Africa has to affer to the World out there and also what we also have to affer to people that don't know who they are or what they are.It also explains where our languages came from and the different foods we eat,why do we do it .It is a great way to as an South Africa what happened and why we as the young have to hold on to our cultures and also our heritage so that the furture of tomorrow can also know its

INTRODUCING SOUTH AFRICA

Last week we started on this book called Introducing South Africa,which is a book that you will need when working in the tourism industry. Knowing your culture and cultures in your area and in South Africa as a hole helps not just you as a tourist guide but also a person as a hole. Knowing your mother and fathers backround, knowing what they went through as kids and still today what they have to go thruogh in there cultures and in yours. The book Introducing South Africa tells us where all the different foods,races,cultures and religious came from.The tipacal weathers and climates South Africa has and in what season we get those weathers.It introduces the demographs ,species ,the economy and the road ,rail, air and sea routes things that we never get to understand ,but being to tourist guide you need to know all of this things.This book also tells you abuot the major tourust attractions in South Africa in all the nine provinces and also the heritage sites that are important to the history of South Africa and its people .And also the history of South Africa from the cave-age to the nineteeth century,knowing what happened during those years.How law is made ,the police serviceand national defence force,the history and the war that happened in the Anglo-Zulu and the Boer War.The diferent religion and religous groups,the Government of national unity,the cultures and the different languages.All of this needed when and learning about this is important in a persons work place.

GAME CAPPTURING OF GIRAFFES

July the 10th we had to help capturing of giraffe at a farm called Elandsdrift just a flow kilometer aay from Sondela. Honestly to tell the truth it was not what I thought it was going to be.We had fun at the sometime still working, everything wantwill.It started as follows: they flyer with a chopper over the farm looking for young giraffe ones that could fit in the airplan .Ok after that it was datted and the boys run to get it to relax so that the vet and same of us girls could close its eyes with a cloth and the ears with a tap so that it does not hear a sound.They then walk it and it was learnd to the track that keeped the giraffe before they taken of to the airpart so that they can take off to the Game Reserve in China where it's going to be their home forever

FIRST AID COURSE

Today we started with the First Aid course.Didn't know that it would be so good or great fun.What we did today was to learn how to do CPR meaning "Cardio Pulmonary Resusitation" .The person that show us not just me ,was great and had time to explain in detain how to do it,but it was not a real peaple but on dammers.We are still leaarning thats whywe didn't do it on real peoples. Tomorrow is still a day with he in the class learning more about a human body and the way a persons bodys work everyday of every minite of every second of your living momant.And gues what is going to happen after is we are going to have a stificate showing that we can do sume first aid

Provincal guiding course

My first day doing this course was something else .What i expacted was something less then what we're now doing ,the thing that we are doing are haard on experance than what we did at school .What we did at school was just paper work and now we still do paper work buuut we also do practical.We now also get to do tours and tooour plans for tourists .In this course you get to also get to think like tourist.This coourse is going to be fun in the following 12weeks and it's also going to be a LIFE TIME EXPERANCE

An day in a tours guide "as a provincal guides day"

Everyday you wake up ,do what you always do before getting ready for work or school.Get to the computer class and prepare a tour for your guest or just as an assenment for a day tour in a province,but this days we have been doimg it for Bela-Bela not Limpopo province .During this days the faciletater take us to see just happens to do a day tour and what i as a tour guide can show my tourist in just a day. What we saw and also experanced was great,but not the point the the car that was driving we around got a flat tyre an owner way back to Sondela .But gues what that is also one of the things that happens when driving around your tourist ,that also showed us that if that happens withn you and you have tourist with you what you should do in that moment of time.What you must do in entertaning your guests "THAT WAS A LIFE TIME EXPERANCE FOR ME"

The fire fighting course of just a day

That day started with us the provincational guides working on the computers doing our town plan.Later we all meet with the Nature guiding group at the workshop ,where all meet for the course on fire .We meet with Mr Mel ,Mr Seig and the managers of the workshop ,Honousty I thought they where just going to inform us on what happens during a fire fighting moment ,but no it wasn't like that at all. We later got to also expreance what they go through when their's a fire in the farm and fires that they just help to fight around farm that are close by.The process that goes in going to fight a fire ,not just the people that arre going or fighting the fire What should be done befor going to wherethe fire is situated .But just being honoust it was great fun running around fight nono existing fire ,but I will not want to see myself fighting fire because it's not just fun and game fighting real fire cause it's dangers .i don't want to see myself around ,its great playing around pretanding in fighting fire ,THAT I'LL DO ANY TIME OF THE DAY

1st weeks in the bush

The 1st weeks in the bush was not realy fun,but some days where fun.But that day whan we got to see a snake was not realy fun for me cause I realy don't like snakes.But to be honest what I have learn about the bush and what happens in the bush I will always treasure and will always use whhen guiding tourist in a live time

My days at the Wildlife centre

Weekends working at the wildlife centre are great because you get to interact with the animals,where you can feed them .But the great thing about being there is when you play the animals.And when it comes to the tours helping the guides or being a guide yourself is the most fun and you get to experance because i'm still studying to become a tourist guide

Staff fun time

Come holidays and we work and stall get to learn what we come here to do.So we get experance the work environment,but we always have a staff fun or entretanment

What we do for fun and the night camp

You will not believe what we do for fun............this one day us girls where bored,we thought that we should just play a joke at the boys house.WE had fun that day,will not mension what we did ,but we had fun that i can say.I must say that it was a time that i will not forget .Sleeping outdoors an a col dnight ,but body heat was wha tkept us all worm for two nights.Some of us slept under the lapa will other slept under the stars.was fun

My first time meeting............

Chane is a ma for me here at sondela,she look after me and all of us that is staying here.But we also look after her as wall.We all are like a big happy family,but from different backrounds.We learn from each other ever day.

what i have learned

mammels,reptiles,birds things that i always wnted to know more about.ALSO snakes,trees and frogs .Thinking about those things make me ...............,just don't want to talk about it.But its fun learning about them and also to still have fair about them.Days when we go into the bush,i'm always been..........the traget .But in that way they are making me become strong when i one day have to face them
